How to Use Click to Call Tracking

By using a Clixtell phone number in your Google Ads Call Extension(s) or Call-Only Ads, you’ll be able to monitor the total clicks you are paying for vs. the real number of calls the phone number has received.

This will allow you complete transparency and control over your Call Extensions and Call Only Ads Spend, will expose any Click Fraud attempts, and log all of the data for future investigation.

Set up a Clixtell tracking phone number

  1. Click the “+ Add Number” link at the dashboard’s top right.
  2. Select “Calls From Ads”
  3. Select the wanted country and area code (If your country is not in the list please contact us).
  4. Set your new phone number settings and complete the wizard.

* Alternatively, you may edit an existing Clixtell pool type to “Calls from Ads” and use the number(s) to complete the steps below.

Track Call Extensions

  1. In your Google Ads campaign(s) go to “Ads & Extensions”.
  2. Click “Extensions”
  3. Click the blue “+” icon and select “Call Extension”.
  4. Select the level for the extension (Account/Campaign/Ad Group).
  5. Enter the Clixtell phone number from the previous step.
  6. Turn “Call Reporting” to “OFF”.
  7. All Clicks and Calls will start showing under the “Click to Call” page on the dashboard’s left menu.

* Alternatively, you may edit an existing call extension to include a Clixtell tracking number. Tracking will start working immediately.

Track Call-Only Ads

  1. In your Google Ads campaign(s) go to “Ads & Extensions”.
  2. Click “Ads”
  3. Click the blue “+” icon and select “Call Ad”
  4. Select the Campaigns and Ad Groups for the new Ad.
  5. Enter the Clixtell phone number from the previous step.
  6. Turn “Call Reporting” to “OFF”
  7. Complete the Ad creative & URL and click “Save”

* Alternatively, you may edit an existing Ad to include a Clixtell tracking number. Tracking will start working immediately.
